Sponsorship Giveaway: Shannon from Inside Out

November 27, 2010

Today we are very excited to bring you a giveaway from the always amazing Shannon Kinney-Duh. Shannon’s e-course, Inside Out has been very influential in helping many find their creative spirit in these hectic and difficult times. The mother of two sons, Shannon’s work is always inspiring and truly magical in it’s beauty. We are proud to have Shannon as a Winter sponsor, and to bring all of you a chance to win a spot in her upcoming January course.

Tell us a bit about Free Spirit Knits.

Free Spirit Knits started out as my fiber arts business, where I created inspiring knitted and felted wearable art. Over the last few years it has expanded way beyond knitting.  To knit is to “combine, join and unite,” and that’s what I practice daily. Through making art, teaching yoga, blogging, and being a holistic life coach, I am learning how to find union with the present moment.

My greatest passion, besides being a mom, is to inspire others to become explorers of their lives and to help them embrace their creativity and authenticity. Free Spirit Knits offers products and services that inspire you to live more fully, boldly and freely.

What is most rewarding about running a small business?

Through my e-course and coaching I get to meet amazing men and women from all over the world without ever leaving my home. This allows me to be a work-from-home stay-at-home mom. I love my work and am extremely passionate about helping others create the lives they love. Running my own business allows me the opportunity to inspire and to be inspired. I get to learn, share, connect and grow everyday. And I get do all of this while working around my children’s schedule. (Many times while still in my jammies or nursing a babe!)

How do you balance being an artist, business owner and parent (if this applies).

I’m still learning how to balance it all, especially with a newborn back in our home. It’s hard, and yet it’s important and so worth it.  I try to practice integration in a lot of what I do – meaning I try to merge my two worlds together as much as possible. If I’m doing a creative project with my son that I think might be interesting for others, I’ll take photos and blog about it. If I’m feeling a deep desire to paint in my journal, I’ll see if my son wants to make art and then we’ll paint alongside one another. If the boys happen to take a nap at the same time (which almost never happens) I will take advantage of that quiet time to work.

Also, I find that personal interests and self-care are of the utmost importance, especially as a mom. I make sure to carve out time during the week to go to yoga, to journal or to connect with friends, so that I can recharge – which all helps me feel more balanced.

What are your hopes for Free Spirit Knits?

It is my dream to create a virtual retreat center, a place where people can turn to for wellness, creativity and inspiration. When my children are a little older, I plan to travel more and teach hands-on creativity and spirituality retreats. “Inside Out: A Creative Adventure of Self-Discovery” e-course, and the community that has grown from it, is the start of this dream.

For today’s giveaway, Shannon is kindly offering one spot her “Inside Out: A Creative Adventure of Self-Discovery.” e-course to one of our Rhythm of The Home readers.

To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment here before Monday at 11pm EST. We will announce the winners on Tuesday morning. To learn more about Shannon, visit her e-course homepage, or her beautiful blog.

I am so excited to discover Rhythm of the Home! And Inside Out sounds like a completely amazing opportunity! I invite the muse! can’t we all benefit from support and inspiration!? I’m just beginning to find my real rhythm as a single parent I think, and completely salute those of you who are the inspirations to do so much, to meet the family needs and still go beyond to create your passions and share with and offer of yourselves to others! And I LOVE this quote!, “Life isn’t about finding yourself, Life is about Creating yourself.” May I learn to embody this more with every breath and every day!!!
Gratitude and Blessings Beautiful People!
