An Advent Piece from the Winter Edition

November 30, 2010

Today we are doing something we have never done before, we are releasing a piece from the magazine one day ahead of the launch. Why you ask? Well, first, today is the eve of December 1st, and for those that celebrate by using an advent countdown, we thought that Nicola’s piece would be worth the look. Also, we just are too excited to hold all 65 pieces (yes, 65!) inside any longer.

So today we give you the Holiday Countdown. Here is a blurb form Nicola’s piece, and you can find the rest on the magazine. Enjoy, and we will see you tomorrow morning!

In our home, we celebrate Christmas each year. As a child, I remember enjoying Advent calendars each holiday season. Now my parents have an Advent tree which my children select ornaments for when they visit. I thought it would be fun to enjoy the anticipation of the holiday in our home with some sort of daily countdown.

what an adorable way to remember the tiny times & not let those little socks go to waste!

What a fantastic idea! I still haven’t made our advent calendar (we’re starting tomorrow) and I’ve been toying with the idea of staying up late tonight to sew bags, but perhaps little baby socks….perfect! We are doing an “activity” calendar and I’ve been having a good time rounding up ideas. :)

This is too cute. I think I probably have enough stray baby socks to make three of these. How does that happen?

This is such a gorgeous idea and such a great use of something that often ends up with no purpose at all! I love it!

I loved this idea, but gave away my tiny socks…so, I bought a package of socks for my 14mo and used them. Big brother gets the candy and toys, the family reads the scripture or does the activity and little brother gets new socks! Thank you!
