Being: Conscious, mortal existence; life.
Every month we welcome two families, two people, two voices to share their stories in whatever way they chose. We hope that you find joy in their daily lives, and their simple habit of just being.

“We are our choices.” ~ Jean-Paul Sartre
laundry, dishes, dogs threatened to overtake the day.
guilt tried to sneak in as i slipped away.
to breathe through bad news.
to savor.
to sit.
to linger.
to look.
to walk.
to read.
to share.
to lead.
to speak with kindness.
to shake off reproach.
to listen, learn, accept, relax, enjoy.
“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” ~ Mary Oliver
This month we are so happy to welcome Sarah Swanson-Dexel as our guest in the Being series. Sarah lives with her family in the redwood forest of Northern California, perched just above the Pacific. She documents her life as a mother, creative spirit, beach comber and forest dweller on her beautiful blog, urban. prairie. forest.

Gorgeous as always, Sarah.
Glad you kept guilt at bay. Plus, if this happened over the last few days, you beat the rain, right? Another reason to dismiss that guilt.
Hope the bad news isn’t too bad. xo.
thank you! did beat the rain and had a nice cool day in a little bit of mist out there. it was a perfect day to slip away solo. x
The middle pictures made me painfully miss our other home.
i hope it mustered connection through the distance. x
so beautiful. again, the simplicity and pairing of the words and the photographs, they bring calm to the forefront of my mind. they make me think deeply about our creator and our purpose on this earth. (and… sidenote… is that a portable/take-with-you-type hammock? what a fantastic tool for quiet and reflection.)
thank you beth!
it’s an eno hammock, the best birthday gift to myself ever.
i bought it a couple years ago and it goes pretty much everywhere i go.
