Hedgehog Rolls Are the Cutest Snack Ever with Lacey Grimm

February 23, 2011

Today we are joined by the always popular Lacey Grim of Life As a Schoolhouse. Lacey shares her recipe for Hedgehog Rolls, and they are sure to be a hit with every family. We hope that you will make a few of these wonderful treats, and we hope you enjoy this last week of February.

In this book we found the following project while hunting out our Monday baking day option. We had so much fun making these little woodland creatures–it was hard to eat the last one! But, baking them again will be NO problem.

They just get cuter…

and cuter….

cuter still…

Irresistibly adorable.

To make your own? Just make your favorite roll recipe (a yeasty one).

:: Roll the dough into balls about the size of a large lemon

:: Brush with a milk/egg wash

:: Pinch and squeeze one end to form the face

:: Snip about 1/2 inch deep with scissors at a 45degree angle from the back side.

:: Add the cranberries/currants/raisins/etc (make certain to press firmly!)

:: Bake according to the recipe, and delight your kids, family & friends! Naomi kept trying to think of good reasons to have a party just so we could share them. Surely we’ll think of something, beyond just the rolls, sometime!

Lacey Grim is a stay-at-home mom in Greensboro, North Carolina. She spends her days exploring, learning, and enjoying life with her husband and 2 little girls–and one babe in the oven. Music, crafts, farming, gardening, homeschooling, living a vintage-esque life and picking up new hobbies is how she spends most of her time. Lacey keeps up a blog, and an Etsy store, Gremlina Vintage & Handmade goods.
